After 90 percent of the corporate directors participating in a National Association of Corporate Directors’ (NACD’s) survey said they wanted to improve their understanding of cyber security, the NACD in conjunction with the Internet Security Alliance (ISA) and American International Group (AIG) have released a “Cyber-Risk Oversight” handbook.
The publication, the latest in the NACD’s Director’s Handbook Series, has organized cyber security best practices around five key principles — legal implications and liability, access to security expertise, and understanding cyber security in terms of risk management, disclosure and mitigation, and building an adequately staffed and funded framework to manage that risk.
High profile breaches “have put the issue of cyber security on every board’s agenda,” Larry Clinton, president and CEO of ISA, said in a press release.
